How to test the whole touchscreen
- Remove gloves, clean and dry the screen, then close features that intercept edge gestures where possible.
- Draw slow parallel lines across the full width and height, including corners and edges.
- Repeat with two or more fingers and watch the active and maximum point counters.
- Rotate the device and repeat to separate a fixed hardware zone from an application or orientation issue.
Touchscreen test FAQ
How do I find a dead area on a touchscreen?
Draw slow continuous lines over the entire display in several directions. A repeatable gap or broken trail in the same location may indicate missed input.
Why are fewer touch points detected than expected?
The device, operating system, browser, screen protector and application gestures can all limit reported contacts. Compare another browser or the device’s built-in diagnostic tool.
Troubleshoot inconsistent input
Follow the touch failure troubleshooting guide to check charging noise, screen protectors, moisture and software causes. Use the screen inspection checklist when evaluating a new or used device.
